備前焼 茶碗 /Bizen Ware — Ceramic Matcha Bowl / Rice Bowl (Chawan)
直径:約13cm/高さ:約7cm
Product Description
An exquisite ceramic bowl handcrafted in the historic kilns of Bizen (Okayama Prefecture), one of Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns with a tradition spanning over a thousand years. True to the authentic Bizen-yaki style, this bowl is completely unglazed; its rich earthy textures, dramatic color gradations, and rustic finish are created entirely by the intense heat, ash, and smoke of the wood-fired kiln.
Measuring approximately 13 cm in diameter, this beautifully proportioned chawan is ideal for traditional matcha tea preparation, allowing you to appreciate the serene contrast between the vibrant green tea and the deep, warm tones of the natural clay. It is also highly versatile, making a stunning presentation bowl for rice dishes, individual side stews, or salads. Over time and repeated use, the surface will naturally develop a softer, smoother sheen, beautifully "growing" alongside your daily routines.
Handmade Character & Unique Firing Variations
Please note: Bizen ware is celebrated for its complete individuality. Because it is unglazed and wood-fired, each bowl experiences different currents of flame within the kiln. As a result, every single piece possesses distinct variations in shape, size, surface texture, and color patterns (such as natural ash deposits, straw markings, or clay variations). No two pieces are alike. The item you receive will be entirely unique and may differ from the photos shown.
Care & Usage Guide
-
Before Use: We recommend rinsing the bowl with water before your first use.
-
Microwave, Dishwasher, & Oven: NOT recommended for use in microwaves, dishwashers, or ovens. Sudden temperature changes may crack the natural clay. Hand washing without harsh abrasive pads is highly recommended to preserve the organic surface.
