A beautifully compact and striking 5-sun (approx. 15 cm) ceramic bowl handcrafted by master potter Masayuki Miyagi in Okinawa. This captivating piece features a unique black glaze (koku-yu) characterized by its intricate, multi-dimensional texture, effortlessly blending areas of soft matte black with deep glossy highlights.

With its comfortable depth and modern, dramatic appearance, this versatile bowl beautifully contrasts with vibrant ingredients. It is perfect for serving smaller portions of noodles, single-serving rice bowls, or soups. It is also highly recommended as an elegant side bowl (ko-bachi) for presenting individual a la carte dishes, appetizers, or colorful side sides.

Care & Usage Guide

  • Before Serving (Recommended): To help prevent food stains and odors from absorbing into the clay, we highly recommend prepping the bowl before each use. Briefly soak or rinse it with warm water before serving warm dishes, or with cold water before serving chilled food, allowing the pottery to fully absorb clean moisture first.

  • Microwave, Dishwasher, & Oven: NOT safe for use in microwaves, dishwashers, or ovens. Hand washing with a gentle detergent is recommended.
